3 Backyards That We’re Feeling Inspired By

As mentioned in our recent post, one of the main things that my husband and I are looking for in our new home is outdoor space, particularly a backyard. While we are by now means looking for a sprawling lawn or land to farm on, we do dream of having a space where we can entertain our friends and family, have a raised bed or two, and maybe even indulge in a hammock. We would love the opportunity to partake in more of an indoor-outdoor living lifestyle, where we can easily access our outdoor space. During the time that I’ve spent day dreaming and scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration, I came across some beautiful photo’s of backyard spaces that I thought I would share with you today!

A California Bungalow Backyard

This image makes my heart sing. A long wooden table and chairs for entertaining, a fire pit AND raised beds?! What more could you ask for.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle

One thing I know is that while we want our future backyard to be beautiful we don’t want to spend a fortune designing it, which is why this photo above is such an inspiration to me. Using what they had, the homeowners have created a dreamy space!

Functionality Meets Beauty

I’ve been following Whitney Leigh Morris of the Tiny Canal Cottage for years now and I have to admit that I was initially horrified when she recently tore up her backyard in place of pea-gravel. Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE pea gravel and plan in fact, on using for our driveway someday however imagining having it as the base of my backyard is another thing. After reading her posts on the functionality of it though, I’ve since come around on this option. It’s been a lot of fun to see how her yard continues to evolve, as she’s put in a living garden wall and an outdoor sofa!
