Our Decluttering Process: Here's What You Can Expect
 

We understand that working with a professional organizer is an investment, so we wanted to walk you through our process today, discussing with you what exactly you can expect.

While I had every intention of becoming a kindergarten teacher about mid-way through college I made a drastic move and switched to interior design! Graduating with a B.A. in interior design from Marymount University a couple of years later, I eagerly stepped into the world of design.

Following my husband to south-eastern Virginia while he earned his doctorate, I secured a job at a local interior design boutique, Sisters Unique, where I played a variety of roles including: merchandising manager, sales associate, and junior designer. It was there that I discovered my gift for interior styling and there that I found the confidence to start my own business a few years later when the store suddenly closed.

Armed with a degree, in-field training and a natural intuition for design and discerning people’s needs and style, I started Making Room for Peace in the summer of 2017. Since then, I have worked on a number of projects in both residential and commercial design.

Making Room for Peace is a design studio that specializes in interior styling and decluttering. Based in Virginia, our team has worked on a number of projects including both commercial and residential, as well as some renovation. After meeting with our clients, we work to create custom floor plans, elevations, and rendered sketches that reflect not only our client’s style but how they live.

Our calming presence brings peace into the spaces that we work in, as we take the time to listen and to get to know our clients. Through our attention to detail, we are able to create spaces that not only reflect our client’s style but how they live.

We believe in using every part of our client’s story while simultaneously encouraging them to let go of the things that are no longer serving them. We want their space to be one that reflects not only where they’ve been but where they are and where they are headed next. We do this by helping them to reflect on their core values, and by being intentional about what they have in their home.

On our Interior Styling page you will find a form that we ask all of our clients to fill out. This form provides us with some basic information in regards to you and your project.

During our consultation, we will meet up in your home (or commercial space) to get to know one another and to provide an opportunity to discuss the expectations for the project. During this time, we will also take photos, measurements and notes. All consultations are free of charge.

Following our Consultation, we will email you a proposal for the estimated amount of time the design process will take as well as an estimate for the total cost. We will also send over a contract to be signed and returned. Once everything is in, we officially start the design process!

Coming alongside our clients, we work room by room letting go of what is no longer loved, used or needed; while also identifying items that we plan to: keep, donate, recycle, or trash.* Clients are able to feel peace during this process as we center in our their core values and goals for the space. Our team will bring order and style to your home, creating systems specifically tailored to your needs and lifestyle. The cost of each session is $75/HR.

 

*I am happy to drop off your “donate” and “recycle” items at local centers for a small, additional fee. This includes home decor and small-scale furniture; medium - large scale pieces will need to be taken care of by the client.
