DIY Holistic Cleaning Products

When it comes to holistic cleaning products all you really need is three ingredients: distilled white vinegar, baking soda, and Castile soap.  Distilled with water, these ingredients are more than capable to tackling everything from a dirty counter to a grimy bathtub.  All are budget-friendly and can be found at your local grocery and hardware store.

Distilled White Vingear

Dilute your distilled white vinegar with water and store in a spray bottle. This mixture can be used as an all-purpose, anti-bacterial cleaning spray. We use ours to clean our counter-tops, windows, cabinets, appliances, bathroom, walls (they take off marks), etc.

Baking Soda

Nothing will get the grit off like water and baking soda. Mix 1 TBS of baking soda with 1/2 cup of water to clean your oven, tub, sink, and other grimy spaces. Baking Soda can also act as an air purifier - simply leave 3 - 5 TBS in a small dish in the smelly room for 30 - 60 minutes. You can also toss some in your trash-can to help absorb the smell.

Castile Soap

Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soap is a staple across the world when it comes to organic cleaning products. It can be used to clean just about anything. Our family likes to dilute the soap with water and uses it for our general hand-soap and dish-washing soap.

Note:

Our family still uses conventional laundry detergent, bleach (occasionally used in the toilet), and dishwasher detergent (I'm still perfecting a holistic recipe!).  We got rid of all of our other cleaning products are few years back as a way to make room for peace in our lives.  I love not having worry about whether these 3 products (shown above) will have harmful effects on my family because I know that they are safe.  Saying that, the transition from conventional to holistic is a journey, so there is no judgement here!
