Changes We’re Making to Our Small Business in Light of the Climate Crisis

In light of our climate change crisis, we as a small business wanted to look within to identify ways in which we could make positive change.

While sustainability and slow living have always been among our core values here at Making Room for Peace, we are always striving to do better. In light of our climate change crisis, we as a small business wanted to look within to identify ways in which we could make positive change. Even though we are a fairly low-waste operation, we have found some room for growth:

  • start sourcing product from local thrift stores, antique stores and small businesses (not just big box)

  • opt for using living plants instead of faux

  • encourage our clients to use natural materials whenever possible (not plastic)

  • provide our clients with a list of places in which they can donate and recycle their unwanted housewares, furniture, etc.

  • look for ways to reduce the amount of driving we do when sourcing items

  • source items that are going to last

Making these changes may seem inconsequential but when added up with the changes being made around the world, they make a difference. We all have a responsibility to the Earth, to our children, to our children’s children to do better.
