We're all about the Color of the Year 2022

It’s no surprise that after the past few years we’ve had, people are longing for peace and calm. This trend is very much reflected in the color of the year - green. “Green is known to have a soothing, refreshing effect, especially in interiors - which is so important as we emerge from the pandemic,” says color expert, Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Institute. “It’s Mother Nature’s most ubiquitous neutral color, working in tandem with every other color in the spectrum.”

“Based on our research, we were seeing neutral colors warming up, sustainability and organic living becoming key design trends, and organic textiles and natural materials are currently huge in home and design," says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “Green just made sense.” Along with walls, we love using green on trim, kitchen cabinets, and exteriors.

Out of all the colors, green in particular is often associated with healing, wellness, tranquility, and stability. This is one of the reasons why Erika Woelfel, Behr’s Paint vice president of color and creative services selected “Breezeway” as Behr’s color of the year. “Greens are ‘nature’s neutral’ and bring a sense of restorative comfort to a space.” Similar to Behr, when the team at Benjamin Moore were considering their color, they kept coming back to October Mist.

It’s no surprise that we are all about the color of the year 2022. The calming effects of green is one of the many reasons why we saturated the offices at Cedar Counseling and Wellness in it. We wanted to create a space where clients walked in and immediately felt safe.
