Why Our Clients Come to Us

I was listening to my favorite design podcast the other day (A Well Designed Business) when I caught myself nodding to the words of the guest speaker, Rachel Moriatry. She was sharing with the host of the podcast, LuAnn Niagara how a lot of interior designers don’t give their clients enough credit. Her clients, she shared are travelers, they have great style - they could honestly design the majority of their own homes. I couldn’t agree more! Our interior design clients come to us not because they have no sense of style but because they “sort of know” what they like and they “sort of know” what they don’t like, and they need a professional’s help putting it together. Plain and simple.

Of course, there are a few other reasons why our clients choose us over other design professionals. They know that we can create and deliver beautiful work; that we’re going to listen and walk alongside them on their journey; and that we have a unique eye for the details - we see and put things together unlike anyone else. While we are known for our signature style - coastal, peaceful - we are able to do just about any style. We want our client’s homes to be a reflection of them.

A perfect example of this is our Sands House client, who after seeing the work we did at Cedar Counseling and Wellness (a 3,000 sq ft office in Annapolis, MD), approached us and explained how while that may not be their style (Cedar is much more minimal/modern) they knew that after seeing Cedar, that we would be able to create something amazing. Their project? A historic home built somewhere around 1658 - 1700, steps away from the United States Naval Academy!

Another reason why a lot of our clients choose to work with us too, is honestly, our calming presence. Interior design projects - no matter the size - can be stressful! There are financial, mental, emotional decisions; decisions that often involve more than one party. Our clients know that we can be the sounding board to process all of the decisions; and that we will help steer the project in the right direction.

One final note, for why our clients often choose to work with us is our artistic eye. With a background in fine arts and a degree in interior design, we have always been quite creative and had an appreciation for details. The big picture is important yes, obviously - but its the details that really make the space. Its important to us to weave in our client’s special heirloom pieces, or things picked up from their travels in along with some of the newer items. We really feel that its this combination that makes a house a home; that tells a story.
