Cedar Counseling & Wellness Project Reveal | Office 05

When it comes to any space that we design, we want people to walk in and immediately feel safe and at peace. This is especially true for the counselors offices that we regularly work on but even more so for Cedar Counseling & Wellness. A 3,000 sq. ft. counselors office based in Annapolis, MD this expansive space boasts two waiting areas and seven counselors offices. With such a large space, it could easily feel overwhelming for clients walking through doors, but with our strategic and thoughtful design, we were able to make it into a calming retreat. Today, we are walking you through the design of office 05!

When looking at this office, most people would look at it and say, “yeah, this was definitely designed by Making Room for Peace.” With nods toward our signature California-coastal style, office 05 is certainly a peaceful retreat. One of the only offices with white walls, when the sun pours in through the windows, it casts the most beautiful glow. Toning things down, we placed a modern, gray sofa with blonde accent tables on either side. Throughout the room there are pops of black metal, brown leather and blue.

We kept the styling especially simple, when it came to this office, choosing to place a few natural elements there and there. One my favorite moments is the vintage croc filled with some faux stems on one of the accent tables, with some shells and books to the side.

Along with the “California-coastal” style, you can see our personal touch through the styling of this office. One example is when it came to the bulletin board on the counselor’s desk. Leaving plenty of room for their own notes and papers, we placed a few items here and there - torn out pages from a book, a little sketch that we did, a preserved beech leaf, etc.

Along with seating and a workspace, we always try to include some storage for our counselor’s. This wood and black, metal bookshelf here provides just enough room for any papers or books the counselor might have.
