Day-in-the-Life of an Northern VA Interior Designer

To be honest, one of the main reasons that I went into business for myself is because of the freedom that it affords when it comes to your schedule. Some days and weeks are busier than others, depending on where we’re at with our projects, however for the most part this is what a day-in-the-life looks like for me. No day is the same, and yet I’ve found that as a business-owner its important to have some structure when it comes to your schedule. This is especially true when it comes to the beginning and end of each day. Having those consistent “book-ends” has brought a lot of peace and stability to my day.

6:00 AM | I usually wake up at around 5:30 – 6:00 AM every morning; heading straight into the kitchen to make a coffee. I then spend some time in prayer and gratitude; really setting my intention for the day.

8:00 AM | By about 8:00 you can find me sitting at my desk, working. I like to begin each morning with the more administrative tasks of the business before moving on to the more creative work.

12:00 PM | As someone who is deeply inspired by beautiful food and interiors, one of my favorite things about living in Northern VA is access to so many restaurants. Whenever I get the chance, I love to explore and try new places

1:30 PM | Afternoons are usually spent in meeting with clients and checking in on projects. It’s always exciting to see the progress of how our vision is coming to life.

3:00 PM | I’ll also make time to do some sourcing, drop off packages at Fed Ex., call my grandma. Stuff like that.

4:30 PM | One of my non-negotiables when it comes to my schedule, is making time for physical activity. I love to take about 30 minutes every afternoon to move and strengthen my body. I feel like in turn, this energizes and strengthens my mind.

6:00 PM | While I’m no chef, I love getting into the kitchen to create beautiful, nourishing meals. I find myself to be my most vibrant when I’m using fresh, clean ingredients.

7:30 PM | Honestly, my favorite way to spend each evening is getting out into nature, moving my body, and practicing mindfulness.
