As We Enter Into 2021

Making Room for Peace

Looking back on 2020, I think a lot of us could say that at one point or another we were searching for peace. Amidst all of the chaos, the pain and the unknowing I imagine that we tried a variety of things to bring us some sense of calm, some sense of peace. Perhaps it was eating well, exercising, meditating, maybe even drugs? These things, these things aren’t necessarily bad things in and of themselves however at the end of the day when it was just us alone in our homes, they also didn’t bring that sense of true comfort that we were searching for. What they brought were only short-term effects.

God’s peace is going to be different from those things that were only bringing short-term effects.

As someone who has tried a variety of means over the years in the quest for true peace, I’ve found that peace comes from within. It comes from knowing our Creator. From having a personal relationship with God. It says in John 14:27, “my peace I leave you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

So God’s peace is going to be different from those things that were only bringing us short-term effects. God’s *peace is going to be lasting, its going to be enough. Its going to leave you feeling whole at the end of the day. It is our prayer that this year - whatever it may bring - you fill find the ultimate source of peace.

*I do want to note though that one can still experience anxiety and depression and still have peace. Life - especially this past year - is challenging. I know for me I had some highs but I most certainly had some lows as well. The great thing though about knowing God is that He is with you during it all. He’s with you during the highs and He’s with you during the lows. He is our hope, He is our peace.
