Fords Colony Project Reveal | the Foyer

When our clients moved into their sprawling, new home over looking the water in Fords Colony, they had no idea that COVID was just around the corner... When it hit shortly after moving in, they were stuck with what they had in terms of the design of their new home - which wasn’t great. Having come from upstate New York, they knew that they wanted to shy away from the more traditional style that they had done up there, and do something completely different.

This was desire was intensified as months later, after having been in quarantine, they were ready to do something bold and fun! Inspired by the location of their new home -Williamsburg, Virginia - and their love for Palm Beach, we created a design based around a blue and white color palette; with Southern accents; and lots of elegant details. Today, we are sharing with you the before and after of the Fords Colony Project foyer!

BEFORE:

Before the Fords Colony Project foyer, was literally like a dark cave. Between the light gray walls, steel blue door and limited light it was depressing to say the least.

AFTER:

When most people walk into the Fords Colony Project foyer, they immediately feel as if they’ve stepped into Palm Beach… aqua walls, elegant light fixtures and pretty, brass details… talk about glamorous!

One of the biggest issues that we sought to address in the design of this foyer, was the lighting. As you can see in the “before” pictures, this foyer can be quite dark and so sought to bring more lighting in in the form of table lamps on the buffet and the most beautiful chandelier.

Right off the foyer lies the living room, where we decided to continue the aqua colored walls. We wanted for people to walk in through the front door and immediately feel the impact of this space.
