Abundant Life Partners Project | A Bohemian Office

Whenever people hear what I do for a living, they often sigh and say, “I bet you just love your job!” And we do! One of the biggest reasons why we love what we do is because we literally have THE BEST clients. I know some of you are probably thinking “c’mon Anna, your just saying that.” But seriously, looking back at so many of the projects that we’ve done, from commercial to residential, interior styling to decluttering, everyone that we have worked with has been so kind and excited to work with us. What more could you ask for?

I say all this because our long-time friend and client, Meghan Freeman of Abundant Life Partners recently reached out to us about re-designing their office space only this time instead of doing a refresh, we would be helping to design an entirely NEW location. With her expanding practice, Meghan found herself quickly out-growing her old space. Luckily she found a space nearby that provides not only room to grow, but also the freedom and flexibility that she was seeking; as it boats a waiting room, 5 offices and a lounge. Wanting to carry over the peaceful, natural vibe that we had curated in her previous space, we got to work brainstorming a design plan for the new Abundant Life Partners headquarters!

BEFORE:

  • To be honest, it took me a little while to get excited about this office space… While I had a clear vision on all of the others this one just seemed… ? Part of the issue was that while the rest of the offices had a window, this one didn’t; leaving it feeling a bit dark and boxed in.

We were also working with some pieces from one of Meghan’s old offices that were great but didn’t necessarily go with the California coastal vibe that we were going for. Embracing this, we went full steam ahead, giving this room a slight “Moroccan" feel. The artwork, wood and rattan help to tie it in to the rest of the space.

THE FUNCTIONAL NEEDS:

  • NEW PAINT & FLOORING: Walking through for the first time, you could tell this room was dying for a new coat of paint! As with the rest of the ALP office, we went with Sherwin William’s Eider White, which, along with new flooring, really helped to lighten and brighten things up. We worked with Carpet Direct to select some new carpet, choosing from the Mohawk/Aladdin collection, the style “rule” and the color “nickel”. What a difference it made!

  • SEATING: Most of the seating in the office came from Meghan’s previous office space, excluding the woven rattan chair. We added this unique piece for both its function and artistic feel.

  • LIGHTING: Making sure that we had enough lighting in Sarah’s office was of the utmost importance, as there are no windows in the space. To brighten things up we add this beautiful floor lamp from Target along with a clear and brass table lamp. The best light fixture though would have to be the hammered brass table lamp in the corner, that we found at a local antiques store!

THE STYLISTIC NEEDS:

  • ADDING VISUAL INTEREST: As you can see, this room was initially a blank canvas. Our biggest design challenge by far was to create visual interest through the furnishings and decor! We achieved this by creating “vignettes” on each wall, that spoke to one another - tying everything in together.

Facing the navy blue sofa are two chairs, one upholstered and one rattan; with a brass accent table in between. We really went “artistic” on this wall, off-centering the round, gold mirror with two graphic watercolor prints.

When it came to the new Abundant Life Partners Office, we brought in A LOT of special pieces. ABOVE we hung this vintage, Ethiopian instrument to tie in with the bohemian vibe of the room. It was a last minute addition but one that makes the room.

This wood and brass bookshelf is another example of how we incorporated vintage finds into this office space. The baskets as shown ABOVE are from Re-Store Williamsburg, as well are the books. While the tall, patterned vase is from Target, the hand-painted bowl with the water-foul on it is from a local antique store. I had purchased it several months ago with the hope of placing it in a project. With the green rim and the vintage feel, I can’t think of a better space to have placed it in!

I think people can tell from the design, how much fun we had putting this office together. It’s always such an honor receiving that phone call from a client, telling you how they would love to work with you again! Click below to see photos of the entire Abundant Life Partners Office.
