Abundant Life Partner's Project | A Cool, Coastal Office

Whenever people hear what I do for a living, they often sigh and say, “I bet you just love your job!” And we do! One of the biggest reasons why we love what we do is because we literally have THE BEST clients. I know some of you are probably thinking “c’mon Anna, your just saying that.” But seriously, looking back at so many of the projects that we’ve done, from commercial to residential, interior styling to decluttering, everyone that we have worked with has been so kind and excited to work with us. What more could you ask for?

I say all this because our long-time friend and client, Meghan Freeman of Abundant Life Partners recently reached out to us about re-designing their office space only this time instead of doing a refresh, we would be helping to design an entirely new location. With her expanding practice, Meghan found herself quickly out-growing her old space. Luckily she found a space nearby that provides not only room to grow, but also the freedom and flexibility that she was seeking; as it boats a waiting room, 5 offices and a lounge. Wanting to carry over the peaceful, natural vibe that we had curated in her previous space, we got to work brainstorming a design plan for the new Abundant Life Partners headquarters!

BEFORE:

  • Before we did our magic on this space, this office was dark and dingy. However walking through for the first time, I could see the potential; envisioning a comfy sectional and some chairs, room for Meghan’s desk and of course some beautiful styling on the built-in shelves (hello #SHELFIE).

How good are these windows? It was defiantly a selling point for both Meghan and I. Imagine being a client in here and looking out onto that peaceful view?!

THE FUNCTIONAL NEEDS:

  • SEATING: Just as in the other offices, we wanted the seating in here to be comfortable and yet professional. Being the largest space by far, we choose to put in this neutral sectional from World Market paired with these professional looking chairs from Target.

  • LIGHTING: While we thought we’d be set with the two windows and a couple of lamps, we were wrong! FUNNY STORY: one of the ALP counselors was meeting with a client back here while the office was installed but still not 100% complete. It had been a bit of a dark, grey week and the three lights that we had weren’t cutting it. They ended up turning on the overhead florescent lights, saying “this is not the vibe we’re going for!!” Adding in that forth light made a big difference!

THE STYLISTIC WANTS:

  • PEACEFUL, NATURAL VIBE: As you’ll see, each office in the Abundant Life Partners office space is a bit different but overall, they have a very peaceful, natural vibe. This is especially true for Meghan’s office where we used a lot of grays, white, green, and natural wood tones. Being the holistic counseling practice that they are, it was important to Meghan to provide a peaceful space for both her clients and fellow counselors.

  • ART WORK: Meghan’s office presented a lot of opportunities for artwork, and a variety of it! It was an exciting challenge; one that we took in stride, as searched high and low for the perfect pieces. The hardest part about our search was finding large enough pieces of art to fill each wall. The gallery wall came about admist this struggle. Inspired by the water color prints from Meghan’s previous office, we decided to combine those with a variety of graphic prints in wood frames mixed in with photographs and sculptural pieces here and there.

The truth is, when it comes to gallery walls I like to collect a variety of pieces that I know will work together and then just go for it. Sometimes I tape it all out but often times I like to watch it evolve. That’s pretty much what we did here!

One of the last things that we did in this office was to add in the blue, sea tapestry by Society 6. I knew that we needed something good there but also something that wouldn’t take away from the gallery wall. I thought this was the perfect piece because of the color and of how soothing it was.

Y’all KNOW how much I love styling a shelf! (#shelfie) Well I couldn’t help myself with this one - we went ALL OUT, styling it with vintage books, coral, plants, baskets and more. The San Pellegrino bottles and turqouise glasses really add a “pop”. My tip when styling a shelf? Is to do it as if you were painting a picture. The eye should move, while also having places to rest. Spread out your color and texture in two’s and three’s (i.e. we have three pops of greenery going on and two pops of turquoise).

I think people can tell from the design, how much fun we had putting this office together. It’s always such an honor receiving that phone call from a client, telling you how they would love to work with you again! With a similar love for that cool, California style, the design of the office space came together rather quickly. Click below to see photos of the entire Abundant Life Partners Office!
